Washington DC: Where your vote just plain doesn't matter.

The District of Columbia is the 24th largest metropolitan area in the US, to give them even one Senator and one US Representative would be hugely disproportionate representation. There is no reason at all, for the purposes of national representation they can't be rolled into Maryland for congressional voting. But to give them their own congressmen? No fucking way.

DC has more people than Wyoming, the entire premise of your post is retarded, and has nothing to do with the fucking thread you moron.

if you don't get the simple logic of what i was saying in that quote, then you are beyond hope.

ppl need to stop marching and start organizing a revolution to overthrow the government

i mean, if they want to make a difference, that is

i personally think it is about to begin in 2015

hold on to your butts

yeah this is pretty fucked up...its fucked up that congress has to pass all laws for DC..i think thats just not fair to the citizens of DC

hey havax

you're wrong bro

so i'm wrong to think that it would be better to pick an instance of voter significance wrongdoing that matters to more people so that there would be instantly more backing to a march for it, therefore making a bigger difference in the long run?

i see.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I never said that, you dipshit.

what's wrong with marching for weed, esp when its becoming very evident that few ppl are actually against it nowadays

I mean the fact that they struck down something that the overwhelming majority (2-1 it says) of constituents voted for is the scary part

whats wrong when such a huge percentage of the population of a country decides that getting stoned is so fucking important that it causes a NATIONAL DEBATE?

Are you serious?

havax's point is that if you pick meaningful instances of some issues you'll attract more support and maybe even get your way. but you pick people that attack cops, or you pick weed (which there's a lot of people that just don't care one way or the other) and can't figure out why not everyone is outraged.

havax their point is it doesn't matter, they voted one way and some higher authority not accountable to those people overruled them.

but i can't help but wonder what they think about gay marriage bans being overruled by SCOTUS. i'm sure they don't have any trouble with that.

why do you all act like children? this isn't a difficult conversation to follow/have.

oh my god are you all truly this stupid or just baiting havax?

he's saying that it's stupid that people are finally marching for a weed vote, when they could have/should have marched for other instances of voting/etc bullshit which were more meaningful/important (compared to weed legalization)
