Turns out that if you stay in the Movenpick resort in Ras Al Khaimah, and they fuck everything up and your room isn't ready until 6PM, that's not strictly true. Debonked.

The area at the back of the photo on the mainland is an industrial wasteland. The reclaimed islands in the foreground which are in the early stages of development are full of nice hotels, upscale residential projects and, coming in 2-3 years, a Wynn resort and Casino bigger than the one in Vegas. Much excite.

As far as industrial wasteland, Las Vegas gets my vote. I've no idea why you holiday there, but most people have no idea why I holiday in Glacier National Park in a tent. Personal taste is just that, I suppose.

Depends on where you are. Charlotte Amalie (little Haiti) is a beautiful beautiful town, and as a white boy, I encourage you to walk around downtown late at night, alone. You'll make a lot of acquaintances. Visiting Little Switzerland in the middle of the day is for pussies. Walk up and down the wharf, late at night, carrying a see-through bag with money in it.


I'll concede St. John was nice, and if I go back, that's where I'll go.

St John is where I go. I chartered a boat for a week one time we visited the BVIs too it's all beautiful there. But St John is the shit.
