he didn't kill because he was an atheist, he killed because he wanted communism to be embraced and not opposed by the church. there's no tenet in "the church of atheism" that says "do x"

atheism is a lack of a belief; religion had to go because it was an obstacle to communism, not because he didn't personally believe in a god. stalin was an atheist, but he didn't become a murderer or justify his actions by being an atheist. he was evil; it has nothing to do with him not believing in a god.
