[Israel] I can't believe CBS aired this

holy shit, Americans arent allowed to see what's really happening like this.

Aipac is gonna strike CBS hard. this could be good.

Without a separate Palestinian state the Israelis would have three options, none of them good. They could try ethnic cleansing, drive the Palestinians out of the West Bank, or they could give the Palestinians the vote. That would be the democratic option but it would mean the end of the Jewish state. Or they could try apartheid - have the minority Israelis rule the majority Palestinians, but apartheid regimes don't have a very long life.

The "apartheid" option refers also to the system that is currently in place, apparently.

I think Jews still make up the majority of the population so it doesn't yet qualify as the minority ruling the majority. The demographics are changing, and moderate Israelis are leaving.

Random long thought: I have a friend who's Jewish and who's gone to Israel twice, once for a few weeks and once for 6 months to study Judiasm. He's currently enrolled in a law school in New York that is predominantly Jewish. He knows I'm an atheist and is fine with that but every once in a while we get drunk and will start having an argument (this includes my other Christian, Catholic, etc. friends) about why religion is or isn't wrong. Anyway.. he knows I constantly harp about religion causing violence and he always comebacks with Hitler and Stalin were atheist blah blah blah so I can't be right. Living in different states, we'd talk probably once a week or so on AIM or something but since this has happened, I haven't even heard from him and I know it's because he knows that I'm going to say how displeased I am w/ it and what not. It makes me pause and kind of put him down a peg or two because he'd avoid me knowing that I'm 'right'. It's shit like this that makes me sad religion exists.

At least the foreign minister says the settlers must go. I may be wrong, but hopefully the settlers he was interviewing were the more lunatic fringe.

Hitler did what he did in the name of Aryanism or in the name of National Socialism. Stalin did what he did in the name of Communism. People don't kill others because they don't believe that Zeus killed his father, Kronos, married his siter, Hera, and is the king of Mt. Olympus.

hitler and stalin were ideologues, which is no different than religion.
