Finally going to buy a 360, do I need the Gbs of the elite? Can I garuntee a Jasper?

With the price drops, I decided to finally buy a 360.

I don't game too much, is the 60gb drive on the Pro model sufficient? What typically fills up disks? Since no more Pros will be made, I guess I'll have to buy one asap if that's the case.

Are basically also 360s at Best Buy these days running on the Jasper chipset? If not, is there a way to tell that I have one?

Don't worry about the chipset. 50/50 it breaks anyway. Buy the full replacement extended warranty.

What fool said. Best Buy's black tie warranty is a damn good deal.

I prefer the 120gb on my elite but if you don't mind uninstalling/ reinstalling all the time get the smaller HD.

like they said, get the awesome warranty.

If you have to settle for a 60GB due to cost, then do that.

How many games can I install on a 60gb drive typically?

I don't see myself buying many games ever.

Madden, Fifa, Modern Warfare 2, GTA 4, a Fighting game and X

games range from 6-9 gigs, but you also have to subtract like 8 gigs because of all the other shit that's already on the HDD

also, you can pretty much hack every 360 out ATM, so you might end up with quite a few games

Most games (not including XBLA Arcade) will be about a 2gb install.

he might also have a point, i read that the new update reduces install sizes

Wait, I've never had a 360, i just play on my roomate's one. You can copy/install games from the DVDs to the HDD and play off of them?

you have to have the disc in the drive, but yes

it decreases load times and saves your disc drive from taking a shit

SOMETIMES it saves on load times. I suggest using a site like this to help you pick which games to install:

Are Your Video Games Worth Installing? - GameInstalls.com

I generally have 5-10 games installed at any point in time, like:

Grand Theft Auto IV

From DVD: Initial Load - 46.5 seconds
From HDD: Initial Load - 33 seconds

From DVD: Loading 'Ivan the Not So Terrible Mission' - 8.5 seconds
From HDD: Loading 'Ivan the Not So Terrible Mission' - 7 seconds

From DVD: Loading 'Bull in a China Shop' Mission - 20 seconds
From HDD: Loading 'Bull in a China Shop' Mission - 11.5 seconds
