Fair way to split up cost of vacation house

Looking to rent a 4 bedroom vacation house. Bedrooms will be occupied by:

1. 2 Grandparents
2. 1 Son ( mid-thirties, good job, no kids ) +/- GF
3. 1 Daughter ( forty, good job, no kids )
4. 1 Son with wife and 3 kids.

What is the fair way to split the rental cost?

What if it is a 5 bedroom, with the kids in the other bedroom?

i would say everyone pays for whatever room they are staying in, - the grandparents.

even though my grandpa would insist on paying, they do enough.

not sure how your relationship is with them though.
 
split it up per bedroom for the cost of the house. Then all other expenses on a per person basis.

Another thing to need to know would be if the grandparents are financially sound and if its for some special occasion.
 
Grandparents free, everyone else ponies up. If the son and daughter who don't have kids of their own are nice they'll offer to pony up extra, but not necessary.

Then again if the grandparents are rich they should just pay.

Its circumstantial.
 
Ok, well last year, the son with the wife and 3 kids paid 50%. This year he offered to pay 33%, but was 'countered' with 40%. Is this fair, or should the son just go it alone?
