It use to be classified as a mental disorder until the 90s. But changes in social norms have pressured psychologists to declassify it as a disorder and claim that it is a normal positive variation in human sexuality.

So, it is a disorder (depending on what you consider a disorder)... but a positive one (cause it's not hurting anyone). Whereas, necrophilia and pedophilia are negative sexual disorders, cause it hasn't become a social norm that fucking corpses and pre-pubescent children is ok.
