Taliban claims victory in Afghan war (lol)

GG taliban, u really showed us by fleeing to pakistan and allowing someone who doesn't suck as bad to rule the country

We fought a military war; our opponents fought a political one. We sought physical attrition; our opponents aimed for our psychological exhaustion. In the process we lost sight of one of the cardinal maxims of guerrilla war: the guerrilla wins if he does not lose. The conventional army loses if it does not win.

The only way to technically "win" in a conventional sense, was to completely annihilate the Taliban to a man, then build a great wall along the Pakistan border to keep them from coming back.

A rather impractical situations if that is how you are going to define who won using a conventional goal like that.

one definition of an empire is a nation that keeps fighting unwinnable wars

another definition of an evil empire is a nation that keeps starting them :roller:

The Taliban can say what they want. In some sense, they'll always remain a pest and a problem to the Afghan people, even if known by another name. However, if they can't impose their will over afghan self-governance like they did previously, they've lost their influence and lost the war.

^^^^ because american influence over afghan self-governance is going so great

you lost your influence and lost the war :sunny:

When I look at all the Taliban heroin on our streets it's hard to argue with them about who the winners are.

in 40 years all the textbooks will say it was a US loss anyway

like vietnam and korea :roller:

we didn't "lose" Korea... the Korean War isn't over.

It started on June 25, 1950, and there was a ceasefire armistice signed on July 27, 1953 specifically with the wording: ""insure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until a final peaceful settlement is achieved."

No final peaceful settlement has been achieved, as such the United States and North Korea are still at war.

we have not lost our war with Korea, and if things keep going like they are, we're going to win the Korean war some 65+ years after the fact.

Muk upset evil capitalist country make communist cannibal brother look bad :(

GDP per capita
NK $1800
SK $32,000

Infant mortality
NK 26.1
SK 4.08

Life expectancy
NK 69.2
SK 81.5

yes

let us semanticise our way out of admitting that we lost korea :roller:

NT: NK isn't communist - while most 'communist' countries are in fact merely state-capitalist, NK is merely a state religion w/ communist overtones

If those facts tell me anything, it sure as fuck isn't that we "lost."

If that shows anything, it shows we most certainly won the Korean war... *If you accept that the korean war is over. (Which it isn't.)

North Korea is not communist, nor is it a state religion w/communist overtones... It's totalitarian, by the very definition of totalitarian.

If you really want to be specific about it North Korea is a single-party state under a totalitarian family dictatorship.
