[(#)SOCCER] The Official 2012-2013 Soccer Thread

so basically you're afraid you'll run out of excuses after barça smashes it's opponents again this season, despite not buying big ticket players

at least that's consistent with your last 3 years of posting here

By smashing its opponents you mean...crashing out of CL and losing the league?

Madrid > Barca

lol watching you embrace one victory for dear life after 6+ seasons of real getting smashed is funny

it's going to be awesome to observe tito vilanova, pep's prodigy, mop the floor with "the special one" and his crew of overrated baboons

Yeah Levy turned down 30. Should hold out for 33ish. Still can't believe that Croatian fuck was lying apparently when he said it was done for 35. He's about as in the know as it would come.

Oh well, still think we get at least 33 or he ends up staying against his will again :p

Fantastic football offseason, especially in the US. Great tours of the country. Tonight, Real vs. Galaxy AND the Sounders are involved in Champions League Play, yet the stadium is like 1/20th full. :|

The US really is a great place for these teams to prepare. They play against fit squads in the middle of their season in wicked heat. Great to build up fitness, and also great financially.

Just wish I didn't live in bumfuck Midwest sometimes :p

Look, it's early round and we're playing against Bumfuck No-name from Trinidad & Tobago. Our 2nd stringers smashed their fuck. Can't blame only 7k showing up.

We'll have 39k this weekend for league play.

Would've helped if the goalie could've actually stopped a shot. In fairness, some of Korea's penalties were lasers.

Giggs was shit in this match. Beckham is better. Arrogant and stupid move of Pearce to keep him out of the team.

Not that it really matters much. Best Brits could hope for was a bronze anyway. Brazil is way better than them.

Looks like Brazil vs. Mexico for all the glory.

If they actually wanted to WIN they would have brought neither of them and not even Bellamy (though he did play well).

I think GB just needed a little more creativity in the final third and an actual #9. Sturridge is selfish and doesn't lead the line at all and Aaron Ramsey freezes up and makes horrible decisions as ostensibly the most creative midfielder in GB's formation. They controlled games well enough but couldn't create enough chances.

There's also the inexplicable back line configurations. No, Tomkins didn't have a good game against UAE but I think it's kind of asinine that they shifted 3 players out of their natural positions just to accommodate Micah Richards at RCB, where he was dominant in the air but predictably awkward positionally.

The fact that they had Neil Taylor and Richards on the same side of defense played out of position is hilariously dumb.

At least Caulker was a beast throughout. One of the best CB prospects of his age group in Europe.
