sad/depressing song thread :[ need list

The Counting Crows are one of the most consistently melancholy bands I have ever heard of. That is why I like them, really.

Especially on August and Everything After. "Around Here" is known but Omaha is pretty haunting and Anna Begins is sad. Hell, 90% of thier shit off the first three albums.

The Man Who Sold the World and several other of the songs off the Unplugged, Live in New York album by Nirvana were sad or atleast melancholy. Many of them were covers though.

BTW Cuz I feel like it

Staind - 4 Walls

the thoughts from my mind
command my lips to say i hate u
the thoughts from my mind
commmand my hands to cut your silken
flesh
the thoughts from my mind
command my feet to stomp your head
the thoughts from my mind have one
question...
when will this ever end

chorus:
not much to the life i live
same 4 walls
i have nothing left to give
please take it all away..
same 4 walls

the thoughts from my mind
feel the pain as rats claw at my flesh
the thoughts from my mind
feels the joy as the needle hits my vein
the thoughts from my mind
smells the stench as shit runs down my leg
the thoughts from my mind ask for sanity
no for this i beg

I have no clue about the names but I have heard a handful of ridiculously melancholy and haunting songs in Hong Kong action flicks. Is Killer the Woo flick where he befriends the blind lounge singer?

I saw some Asian flick recently that a title track that was great but hell if I remember it.

thx for HUGE and awsum list guys, i already downloaded like 10 of these songs :D if ya can, keep it coming :D

Following are songs from my playlist, from when my sister passed on. I had more songs on it then, but I don't remember all of them. I just sat in a chair, with my hooded sweatshirt covering my face, with the headphones on . . . for about 24 hours straight, and many times in the days afterwards. I don't know if it's good to listen to depressing music when you're depressed already . . . but I couldn't listen to anything else . . . and Portishead especially helped me out a lot. Almost all of their stuff, man.

Listening to the songs in the order listed will greatly improve your experience. It is imperitive that you at least listen to the last three in order, that you have good quality versions of them, and that your sound system does not suck.

It starts off with classical . . . high quality (160 or above) is preferred.

Pachabel Canon in D
In the Hall of the Mountain King
Mozart -- Theme for Shawshank Redemption (forget real name)
Requiem Mass -- Lacrimosa
Nirvana Unplugged -- Dumb
Nirvana Unplugged -- Where Did You Sleep Last Night
Nirvana Unplugged -- actually, pretty much all of Nirvana unplugged.
Sublime -- I Saw Red (acoustic)
Portishead -- Nobody Loves Me (also called 'Sour Times')
Portishead -- Over (also called 'Uncertainty')
Portishead -- Wandering Star
Portishead -- Teardrop
