I've seen this tech in Chubu central airport. It was pretty weird.

You had to stand in a certain spot, a certain distance away to see anything, and it looked like a hologram thing between you and the screen.
I can see how it wouldn't work for the big screen seeing as everybody watching would need to be huddled in one very specific spot to see anything.
