Bezos probably attempted to lie to himself that he wasn't a bad person for a very long time, all the while contemplating the kind of women he could get with his ridiculous money. That degree of temptation was probably wearing on him for the longest time.
More than likely when Bezos met Sanchez, it was like a dam bursting. She's walking down the street, sees a perfectly ripe balloon just floating by, brings up her 30 year sharpened needle and pops the balloon effortlessly, money covered in white paint exploding out of it. She knows what a balloon looks like cus she's popped them hundreds of times before.
