Microsoft did drop the price of the 360. Nearly every retail store has/had pretty large deals going ($50-$100) off.

The Cell processor is still really young so it only makes sense that as they get better at manufacturing it that it gets smaller and more efficient.

I would be pissed if they ever included the hd-dvd drive at the regular price if I was an early adopter.
