i don't think so man, i think people just moved on with their lives, and the web has changed. i stopped coming here for years, because... i just did. it wasn't like a conscious decision, i just had other things to do. then i came back a few years ago because i was bored. it's not that complicated. not everyone hangs out at the same bar forever. it's been 20 fucking years.

when you have no influx of new members (forum based around dead game with no clear appeal and no one uses discussion boards anymore anyway), your community will eventually die. naturally weirdoes and losers like ourselves are going to be the last ones left to shut off the lights, so things have gotten stupider.

you think fucking sa or fark or some shit are doing any better?

i've seen this happen to every online community i've ever been a part of, the smaller it is the faster it goes, til it's down to the last five people who never leave. tw isn't down to the last five yet but it's getting close.
