World Championships are being held in Germany.

First game, 78,000 in attendance!

Germany wins 2-1 over USA..

Pretty insane to see that many people at a hockey game.

yeah, just heard it in the news. Maybe I'll go to a game. I've never been to a hockey game before.
 
Im sure if the Leafs had a 50,000 person arena they could fill it for each game
 
Since NHL playoffs are happening right now, isn't this a little silly?

I'm assuming most NHL players want to stick with their home team instead of going abroad... seems like all of the Sharks players are still at the SJ games :shrug:

International hockey doesn't schedule around the NHL, the NHL isn't all that important in the hockey world, short of being the largest Venue for the sport in the Americas. Players with Obligations to other teams won't miss contract games to play in this tournament, barring the Olympics since the NHL puts the season on hold for the most important hockey tournament in the world.

I was at a futbol game in Istanbul recently, couldn't see shit really, it was more about the environment, chanting etc that made it fun
