that's not going to work too well with any dish that has a lot of sauce.

I would guess the true purpose is that folding waxed paper like that is an easy and cheap way to make takeaway containers that won't leak and that pack flat for shipping.

In Vancouver aka Hongcouver you get plastic or aluminum round containers. Only one place I know gives you those funny little boxes but it's a Thai place and only for sides of rice.

I live in Monterey Park (Los Angeles), it's literally China/Taiwan. All of the San Gabriel Valley is crazy Chinese dense.

Yeah for the most part everything comes in foam containers, a few places use the black plastic ones with the clear tops.

Only thing that comes in those boxes around here is rice. You know how much rice is in that tiny box...try to do that plate method and youll just have rice everywhere.

Just the first place I ended up when I got work in LA county. Will likely move early in the year but I work in SGV so will prob end up further east.
