Bought 3month XBOX Live! card - it registered as 12 month. Weird

I just bought the $19.99 / 3 month card at the store, registered the code and it says I now have a 12 month subscription.

This is freaking me out.

Microsoft is going to ban me, I just know it.
 
Dont think they can ban you for a mistake that you didnt cause. Worst case, they take it back to the 3 months. OR you just got 12 months for 20 bucks. Let it be.
 
when i bought my playstation 3 i paid 0 FUCKING DOLLARS TO BE ABLE TO PLAY ONLINE

PERHAPS THEY MESSED UP AND NOW I MUST ACTUALLY PAY THEM????
 
I am not seriously worried about getting banned. I have an email saying it's 12 months. I just find it really amazing that they would have that kind of mess up with their cards.

Now I am wondering if it was a problem with the activation at the store, or if it was a specific batch of cards or what - if I go back and buy another one, will it also be a year?

How weird is that - it's not that weird when you think about it. Their system is probably running on IIS and SQL Server.

I did some Google searches, could not find it happening anywhere else.
 
You got lucky. Nothing to worry about. The worst thing that can happen (which is still unlikely) is that you'll get knocked back down to 3 mos.
