Retirement money is supposed to be passed down to your children. If no children, then I agree you can spend it. Or give it to your dog. Or build a huge monument so you'll be remembered.
My uncle saved millions (the sterotypical rich uncle) retired at 50 and lived the good life until 62 when he had a massive stroke and spent the next 6 years disabled until he passed away. We thought he would outlive us all.
One good thing is he significantly advanced my ability to retire earlier with his inheritance to me. Thanks uncle!
