For all I know, living your life in imaginary land with no true grasp on reality could be extremely wonderful. I would guess it's not because we often lock these types of people up for one reason or the other.
If I was a betting man, and I am, I would bet you get locked up eventually for a possible myriad of reasons that people like you do. Until then, I guess you're doing alright for yourself.

I'm not sure I understand your question but basically what the verses "you know the day destroys the night / night divides the day" mean is very simple.
It's just a reference to the wheel that is the earth rotating around its axis.
When the sun rises the night is over (a new day begins), and the night is what lies between two days (thus dividing a day).
It's a reference to the 24 hours in a day and the day that comes next, after a night.
It's nothing transcendental, actually it's quite silly.
"Try to run, try to hide, break on through to the other side"
These verses reinforce what the previous ones already implied but it also adds something new: the fact that no matter what you do (hide or run) the wheel will always continue, you can't stop it from turning.
Just like in the transmigration of the souls - an ancient belief in reincarnation and the wheel of nature = nothing is lost, everything is transformed - and so, if everything in nature is infinite, it's only logical to assume that our spirit is part of this wheel, it never dies. Or like John Lennon said: "death is like getting out of a car to get into another".
If everything is infinite why would death be different? why do people think of death as some kind of state or "place" that you go to when you die and from where you'll never leave?
This idea contradicts the laws of nature, because if all is infinite then it's illogical to think that death is something finite; it's an assumption that doesn't fit.
The final verse: "break on through to the other side" - is the same as saying "escape the wheel, escape the circle", which of course is impossible. We all know that after a day there will be a night and after the night there will be another day and so on.

I'm very grateful to Graves (musician) for having trusted in my talent and turned this song of mine into a potential hit. So thank you Mr Graves for recognizing my powerful voice when 70% of the people even doubted it was me singing.
As for drugs... I smoked weed for 20 years and got addicted to heroin for 16. I never used needles, I panic. I always smoked the heroin on foil.
I also used to drink 2/3 of a bottle of whisky everyday and very often my first meal was around midnight. A very heavy thing for my stomach.
But incredibly as it is those excesses never affected my intellect, I used them to stop the pain, emotionally.
In time I realized that not only I had experienced all those things before but I was also postponing my soul rehabilitation. Today I don't use drugs.
