[Mega] MAGA Super Trump Mega Thread v2

Who said you can't be punished after leaving office?

Some of us have pointed out that an impeachment, which is the sole means to remove a President established in the constitution, does not apply to a person who has left office. Is that what you mean?

If Trump broke the law, why hasn't DC or some federal office charged him? If they do, then he defends himself. If he is found guilty, he gets punished.

Impeaching has ZERO punishment. Even if they find him guilty, what is his punishment? He can't run again? Really? LOL We know it is about destroying his message and legacy.

But hey, you go ahead and defend the unconstitutional impeachment, where the managers are threatening the defendant if they don't testify on their own behalf (wtf?).

Oh, and Hillary violated federal law by emailing SECRET//NOFORN documents on an unclassified network. We KNOW she did it. We KNOW it was illegal. They just didn't want to charge her.

There whole point of impeachment at this point is just to make sure he doesn't run again.

Nobody can actually articulate what he has done "wrong" or how he incited insurrection, so you have to wonder why it is that the left is so scared of him running again

The lawyers will do that very nicely, you fuckwit.

Not really, it doesn't meet Brandenburg standards and calling constitutionally protected speech a high crime or misdemeanor is even more a stretch than abuse of power was.

This impeachment is blatant partisan politics. Petty, spiteful malice.

The kind of thing Rep. Lyman Trumbull, a republican, said in opposition to the impeachment of democrat President Andrew Johnson (1868).

"Once set the example of impeaching a President for what, when the excitement of the hour shall have subsided, will be regarded as insufficient causes, as several of those now alleged against the President were decided to be by the House of Representatives only a few months since, and no future President will be safe who happens to differ with a majority of the House and two thirds of the Senate on any measure deemed by them important, particularly if of a political character. Blinded by partisan zeal, with such an example before them, they will not scruple to remove out of the way any obstacle to the accomplishment of their purposes, and what then becomes of the checks and balances of the Constitution, so carefully devised and so vital to its perpetuity? They are all gone."

Later, Congress and SCOTUS would affirm Andrew Johnson, and the justification for his impeachment being unfounded.

This is all Trump's impeachment is. They just want to stick it to him one last time and wrangle precedent barring him from every holding office ever again. Give 74 million Americans the finger in the name of "unity".
