I have a crap apple airport from years ago and I'm considering switching. I heard good things about linksys WRT32X? ASUS ones look pretty solid too though
I had an Asus RT-AC68U, and it was awesome... Until it got fried by a single power surge. Now I'm back to my old Netgear, which doesn't have the bells and whistles, but does the job just fine and never breaks.
I have ASUS RT-ARCH13. 4 gigabit LAN ports and 867Mbps (5GHz) and 400Mbps (2.4GHz). It's the AC standard not N so it's a bit older. I've had it about a year and haven't had any issues with it. Streams Blu Ray caliber content through Plex without any issues whatsoever. I don't have 4K anything so can't say how that is. I play PUBG, stream an IPTV channel, and my son watches Youtube on his iPad at the same time without much trouble.
oh yeah i have comcast business, and i called a while back and complained about something minor, they decreased my monthly bill, upgraded my speeds and gave me a new modem that is a router too
Comcast trying to have their WiFi everywhere so I traded their equipment in immediately and bought my own. I don't trust them even if they give you the ability to disable their open WiFi crap.
I have a Netgear Nighthawk. I was really hesitant to buy a Netgear as I've heard all sorts of horror stories, but this one has been rock solid for me.
I would never run anything the cable company gave me. Check as they are probably charging you some fee to "lease" their equipment on top of your already outrageous bill. Time Warner wanted to charge me $10 a month for their cable modem. I got the exact same model off Amazon for $40.
also, centurylink modems are built for maximum chinese plastic outgassing so ur whole family can enjoy cancer within 2 weeks of switching to their 1.3bps "always connected" service that drops as soon as somebody calls the landline u didn't want but they forced upon you as "necessary for account identification"
the internet was better when it was accessed via telegraph
