Because Microsoft wants the security companies to make it more secure by just changing the scale used to rate its security.

Cliffs:

Microsoft doesnt feel Vista exploits should be rated the same as other operating systems since Vista works diffrently internally.

The security firms say no, since a remote exploit is a remote exploit.
"[Windows] either has the vulnerability or it doesn't," said Marc Maiffret, eEye Digital Security's CTO. "Vista has some additional Band-Aids, but most of those Band-Aids are broken.

I feel so much safer now that Vista is more secure, or not.

Yes, vista is more secure

when it's behind a hardware firewall with 3rd-party antivirus and antispyware software running it, and when it's not owned or being used by an idiot...

I definitely feel safer having it ask me if I'm positive I want to create a new folder 3 times.

I wonder what % of malware/spyware/viruses/system crashes the uac thing will prevent. Not that it could ever be accurately monitored but u know what i mean.

My next computer will be Vista & Feisty

I think it's time to go the extra step and use a removable hard drive, only using one for stuff like online banking and the other for every day browsing like warez, porn, Tribalwar etc.

I don't understand the fascination with MS, and security.

Take the Windows userbase and apply it to any OS out there and you're going to see just as many, if not more, security flaws / exploits.

Yep. But Windows/Microsoft are the current court jester combination in the world.

While thats not entirely accurate, there is some truth to that statement.

I just wish flaws in Macs would get more attention so people will stop bitching about 'Oh, I don't have to worry, I own a mac! (Also, I cut myself to feel alive)"

it wasnt even really flaws that was the problem with windows. It was the total lack of care about security on MS's part.

Vista is much more secure. After half a year in the public, any vulnerabilities found have been minor and obscure. Things like being able to play a sound file while your voice recognition software is on and your speakers are facing your mic in order to delete system files... that sort of thing.
