Tribalwar wiki article mega thread

TW doesn't have any fads, except for maybe the Maori, but I don't think that's spread anywhere else. Our community is and was far too apathetic to be productive.
 
If you want the article to survive, you need to mention the interaction with Sierra over T:V and Tribalwars general centrality to the community.

I disagree. A TW Wiki effort is a noble cause. If a UVA8 dinner gets a sticky, this gets a sticky. :bandit:

And I think the following might be important: The TTWC and TWC/2. Beacon hanging. Happy flag. Why Rayn created TW -- it's birth from the ashes of P-T. Us vs our nemesis, WCotC, etc. The promise of a new Tribes many times over and how it affected us. And now, TribalWars.net

Links to outside references looks really good for the TW wiki page. If you want to keep all the "internal" forum stuff there you need random links every where to make it look like its cited. If you don't do this, all the little wannabe admin bitches sit there and spout policy like it was scripture.

The debate over at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Tribalwar is still raging on. So if anyone who is better at arguing policy than me wants to chime in, go ahead.

I'd offer to help, but I've never written a wiki article and have no idea what their guidelines are. I'd take the time to learn it, but I don't think I'll have the time this weekend. If we are still contemplating next week, I could probably help.

If I were to (very roughly) outline an article about TW, it'd probably look something like this:

Introduction with a GOOD description of what TW is.

1. History
a. Tribes 1 stuff (pre-TW)​
b. Start - Online Gaming League fallout​
c. Tribes 2 stuff (TW's role)​
d. T:V stuff (TW's role in it)​

- I honestly can't comment on a lot of the history as I was gone from for about a year when T2 came out.

2. The Forum
a. TW being ranked one of the top 50 (I believe) most frequented forums on the internet​
b. The forum's member structure (member, veteran)​

3. TW member involvment in the online community
a. TW members that went on to work for gaming companies (KineticPoet, Justin (av0n), etc.)​
b. Shoutcasting - Hosted TSN​
c. Even though he's not a member anymore, reddread made team speak I believe. (could reference his later fallout in a section about forum drama)​
d. UVA LAN, Tribes Gala, etc...​
e. Even though I don't like the guy, Musashi's passion of the christ flash got TW some attention along with his kitty photoshop​
f. BadCRC's all your base flash did get some attention as well​

4. Section detailing past forum exploits involving the outside community (Goatse the world, invading the neo-nazi forums ran by a guy who is now in prison for trying to murder a federal judge, etc.)

5. Details internal to TW that give us character (labtop gate, etc).

Could also reference that online gaming TV thing where slam and a bunch of other tribes players (and TW members) went and played T:V in front of a live audience. I guess the show fell through but it's still noteable.

Also, Beren, we've never liked each other. I think that you're a fucking asshole, and vice versa. Just admit that's the issue. If you want someone else to write it, ask for volunteers and make a poll. Jislan would do fine, in my book, as would you.
 
Based on my reading of wikipedia policy, whoever does this will have about a week to update the information based on the conclusion of the debate. The site administrators will make a decision on whether it stays or goes, or needs cleaning. I'm guessing cleaning, because everyone seems to be on the fence.

Also I like the idea of Log Roller writing it. :shrug:

He just seems to know what he is doing when it comes to writing. No offense to anybody else who might want the position.
 
I'll be checking in periodically to answer questions or elaborate on any indcidents I can remember. Just ask away and I'll write it up.

1) we should have a TW-forum-wiki put up for all the random forum history fact stuff so people would know what each reference is about.

2) why did bugs apply for us to be deleted?
