It's a collaborated effort. No one person/group is to blame.

The only time you can "blame" one side is if you choose to ignore what they are disagreeing on, and what side of that argument you fall on.

Which by the way related to the budget process - it's been fucked up for decades. Every year an extension, omnibus package, etc. I'm of the opinion it should be done a full year out. Give everyone 6 months to bicker about particulars than go home and campaign. If they dont reach a bill every member of the house loses their job.

That's a stupid idea. The more these people agree on ideas, the more it's normally terrible for the general population. This is a fact.

So when you hear "it's bipartisan!!!" just know that it's almost always a very bad thing. It means that the worst of both sides came together on a terrible idea. No Child Left Behind was bipartisan. That's just one easy one off the top of my head.

The only thing that matters to the political calculus here is, if/when this comes to pass, who people blame for their situation.

The democrats have their nose to the polls, and until things change, there is no reason for them to capitulate.
