Libya is falling/fallen.

Even for Saudi oil i would say don't get involved. As oil goes up in price, there will be a need for alternative energy sources. Let America do what it does best, build cool technology.

Development and investment into these technologies would be hard to come by if the world entered another depression. Saudi Arabia is the linchpin.

Al Jazeera has been reporting that Gaddafi has been wanting to hold a "People's Congress" to discuss safe passage for his family and immunity from prosecution if he were to step down. The rebels have rejected his offer.

What a bunch of idiots. This is exactly why there will always be unrest in the arab world.

Also, the Saudi one shouldn't be a big deal. It's only their Shia population that is protesting (10% of population). I'm sure the royal family will crush them immediately.

BBC is reporting this:

2344: Reuters says that there is still no official confirmation on the offer Col Gaddafir is reported to have made to the rebels. But a source said to be close to the rebel council told the agency that "one formula being proposed by the other side would see Gaddafi hand power to the head of parliament and leave the country with a certain guaranteed sum of money".

2346: But a spokesman for the council told Reuters: "No such offer has been been put to the council as far as I am aware."

Yeah the gov't is all, 'Hey guys how about Gaddafi leaves?" but the rebels are all like: 'Sure np, right after his trial.'

Hmm, that would make a fun little 3 frame jpg

BOOM goes the oil.

An engineer who works at Sidrah oil terminal - which was bombed earlier on Wednesday - says the air strikes damaged storage tanks and other facilities such as power and water plants, Reuters cited Al Jazeera TV as reporting. Mohamed al-Hashemi, a maintenance engineer at the terminal near Ras Lanuf, told Al Jazeera he saw government warplanes attacking the terminal and said four storage tanks had exploded in the oil complex, each storing about 150,000 gallons. Pro- and anti-Gaddafi forces have blamed each other for the incident.

Also still bombarding the Z city:

A witness from Zawiya said there was a fresh, heavy bombardment on the west Libyan town on Wednesday evening, Al Arabiya television reported. The channel did not give further details, according to Reuters.

Sounds like Gaddafi is pounding Ras Lanuf with artillery and the rebels are losing. I think the rebels are fucked either way.
