I did that in tacoma washington for a while. At a jazz club. It was fun, but bartending really gets old after a while. Made a crapload of money sometimes, doctor money. In the end though, I didn't like the lifestyle as much because of the hours required and decided teaching is a better option. I would rather have weekends and summers off and a regular schedule.

Would I do it again? Probably, but I don't think its the best career out there. Great job to have for a while though. You WILL get sick of it, make sure to plan for that. How do I know? Everyone does.
