I used to dig those cars but I wouldn't get a sports car more then 5 or 6 years old at the most, way to much wear and tear unless it was owned by a little old lady, and the older z's aren't very reliable to start with.

Volvo 240 w/ B230 16 valve turbo. On the cheap. Holset, megasquirtnspark and you can go high 12's for 10 grand.

but then again you'd spend more than any of the other cars on maintenance

I do tend to be rather bias and lean forward the bavarian cars, but you really can’t go wrong with a post 1997 323ci or A4 3.2. the IS300 is a nice alternative if you have a thing against nazis, but good luck getting it for under $10k
