Honestly, I don't really care that much but shouldn't it be enough there ARE mosques in nyc? Why do they have to put there of all places? Just put it somewhere else for fucks sake.
I think that groups that would do that kind of thing in this country are damn sure not limited to just christian groups. When was the last time you saw an organized army of god on the march? Not the crazies that do their random acts and say its in gods name, but an actual standing armed/trained military force? that was a christian army? I'm pretty sure the last time such a military force existed sword and shield were the weapon of choice.
I believe that the Vatican has sort of a military force with the Swiss guard, but they're The Swiss guard, and just keep an eye on the place for the pope and they still carry sword and polearm, so i think the heathens of the world are probably safe for now.
Islam hasn't grown up from that stage, they just are more dangerous

You should petition the local planning council who is responsible for that type of thing, that approved it 29-1 because it is a completely positive thing to do and no better place to do it.
Rather, you should have voiced your concerns years ago, because it's a done deal. Or do you have some other large empty parcel of land in lower Manhattan that you are willing to donate?
They did. It's two blocks away. You can't even see it from ground zero.
