wizard of oz = populism?

Also I believe in the books Dorothy never says "There's no place like home." Kind of ironic really, considering it's the most famous line from the movie.

In the books she gets her family and they all move to Oz.
 
Actually, I believe the original posters history teacher was correct. This was a film about the populist movement IMO.
