Why is it so hard to get a monthly subscription to a comic book?

Apparently Valiant comics is back, and I used to be an avid follower back in the day. As I'm not all grown up, I have no desire to go to a comic book shop, but would like to get some issues delivered in the mail. Why does it seem like every online subscription site sucks? They either have ridiculous a shopping cart system, require me to add 10 titles to my "pull list", or both.

I just want some nerdy comic books. Wtf.
 
because forcing comic nerds to go to a comic book shop for their fix is usually the only way to get comic book nerds to go outside
 
a pull list is because comics don't come out monthly. so there's a list that they'll just send to you whenever they come out, most comics are in the 4-8 week range per issue, right?
 
It costs more money to have it mailed to you I guess? I had subscribed to to DCs WoW comic some years back, kind of sucks that half of each issue was ads.
