[toronto] [kensington market]

Ok. I want to enjoy some "culture". Do they have cabinets full of "culture" like in Holland, or is this some kind of down-low thing.

Boomer - Are you in Toronto? Great place, btw. Here all day.. gonna be a tourist today.

it's a down low thing.

I'm in Hamilton, about 30 minutes outside of Toronto. Too bad the weather isn't better for you it's a great city to explore for sure.

Today is Pedestrian Sunday in the market, it's a great day to tour around!

edit - if the weather does improve head down to Queen's Quay (lakeshore area bottom of bay st)

Welp - It's not too bad today. Overcast, but the rain's gonna stay just south enough to miss. It was like 100 F @ home, so this is nice.

Anyways - Here's our itinerary today:
(no order)
CN Tower
St. Lawrence Market
Hockey Hall of Fame
Steamwhistle
Casa Loma - Is this worth seeing?
Kensington Market
Maple Leaf Gardens

We got like 10 hours.. Anything a must-see that I'm leaving out? I got my car, so...

Thanks!

The Beer Bistro at the intersection of Yonge St and King St (just a block north of the Hockey hall of fame) is a good spot for lunch or dinner. Best pulled pork sandwich in the city. beerbistro.ca

That's a pretty good list honestly. Casa Loma is def worth a look it's a pretty cool place.

Have fun!

We were out last night - staying in Chinatown. Nice womenz here. We just drunk hopped our way down Queen / King.
Gonna hit the bricks. Thanks.
Niagara tonight and tomorrow.. Will check back. May wind up coming back here... Who knows..

I lived in Kensington market for a year in university. It's a pretty cool place for students - Cheese Magic is one of the best stores in the place :p

I could never live there now, though - I like sleepig too much for that...

If you want some awesome mexican food - head north on the street west of the Hot Box Cafe and go to El Trompo and make sure to have their Tacos Al Asador

There is also an amazing south american place on the same street (further south) that does some amazing corn meat pies.

I'll agree with Boomer, that's not a bad list. My friends and I are going to house sit for someone for a couple days in August, and we were planning to do a tourist day, even though we've already done most of the things on the list. Grew up not too far outside of Toronto.

Our day is going to consist of:
The Art Gallery
Steam Whistle brewery
ROM
Hockey Hall of Fame
Jays Game
CN Towner

With a bunch of pubs mixed in between.

Sounds adventurous but I doubt you'll get through all that in a day. I'd say pick between the ROM or AGO (the ROM has more things) and scratch out the hockey hall of fame (unless you're huge on hockey, it's pretty boring tho)

I suggest you squeeze in some time to check out the Harbour Front area

I've been to Toronto countless times, and seen most of those attractions already. It's just going to be our beer fueled version of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. No biggie if we miss a museum or two ;). I'm not new to the area, it's just something to kill a summer's day.

forget kensington market. Its a dirty asian fest. Go to St. Lawrence market, near the distillery district. After that, go to the distillery district.

Ok.. Did all that on the list xcept for the Casa Loma. Was cool. I fondled the Stanley Cup. Last time I saw it was @ a train station in Philly and I couldn't get 30 feet near it.

Thank for the replies..

Now in Niagara and looking for good food & drink. Got one place on the radar it's Niagara Falls Brewing Co - now called Niagara's Best Brewery.

Any places we should check out in this town?

PS - Toronto was nothing short of awesome. Unlike New York and Philly, I didn't feel like I needed to look over my shoulder every step. Maybe that's why there's more chicks and they aren't in "rape prevention mode".

Thanks again - Great town, there Mr. Canadians! Good people, Good stuff! A++++

Damn - was out of town this weekend. Would have been up to touring around/grabbing some beers :)

Glad you enjoyed it - next time try to grab some Cold Tea in Kensinton.

If you've never been to Niagara you should do:

- Maid of the Mist Official Maid of the Mist Website
- Whirlpool jetboat Welcome to Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours!
- Clifton Hill (This encompasses a LOT; including rides, museums, things like Ripley's Believe it or not, bars and nightclubs at night, arcades, etc) Niagara Falls Fun - Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls Canada
- Fallsview Casino Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort
- If you want a pretty badass dinner: The Keg Steakhouse & Bar - Fallsview - Niagara Falls, Canada
- You can walk pretty much everywhere; but know that there is a hard line if you head too far away from the falls where it is shitty and gross. If you stay at any of the main hotels though, you will just walk everywhere and get hammered and have fun.

I've stayed at most of the hotels there; the Embassy Suites is nice and a good walking distance spot; The Hilton has a pool that has a glass wall that looks into the lobby which is cool, the Sheraton has floor-ceiling windows and is on Clifton Hill. There are a tonne of online combo deals where you get a nice room, free dinner at the fallsview restaurant (which is a Keg restaurant on the 9th floor overlooking the falls), drinks and tickets to something etc. Makes a great 2 day trip.
