I'm doing the tutorial and it tells me to make a cube, where's the cube button in the TV editor?

On the left side of the screen is a panel called something like "Quick Tools". It has 4 tabs, one of them is "BSP". open the "BSP" tab and it will give you tools for creating polygonal solids.

Don't bother with planet unreal. There are some video tutorials for free at 3dbuzz.com

Register and go to downloads. Then select Unreal.
