[Software] Node visualization?

I sometimes find myself wishing there was a simple program with which i could display information relationships similar to nodal views of vfx and database applications.

It doesn't need to have any functionality other than letting me create "nodes", putting labels on them, and linking them with lines/curves. Anything else would get in the way.

If you need to program the input, latex has a nice node package... if only i could remember what the name is
