I'm about to update my dad's 3GS, and it is my understanding that I have to install a 4.0 image to jailbreak it, as 4.1 is not currently jailbreakable.

no jailbreak for 4.1 yet. not for the iphone 4 at least. the exploit has been found. We expect a release soon enough.

I guess that means after I jailbreak i'd still have to wait for a version of appsync that's compatible with 4.1 right? so I can install apps that I bought from the "store"
