It is leagues beyond ratatouile. I loved that one too, but this is by far the best Pixar movie.

I find it difficult to compare. To my (untrained) eyes, I have a hard time seeing if the animation has advanced beyond ratatouille. And the story lines are radically different. So I think it comes down to which story y ou like best. This is the first time, that I can recall, that Pixar has had a love story as the central theme between the two most central characters. I think the only one that comes close (but it isn't really, in my opinion, the "main" theme) is Cars.
