Roof technology

Took a load to the landfill Saturday morning. Picked up a dresser and bed someone dumped on the storage lot, and got a TFCC tear. Probably overuse throwing sheets of plywood around. Wearing a wrist splint for a few weeks I guess.
:stab:

Snowed Sunday into Monday, but headed towards 70 today and Wednesday.

I remember at school everyone said if you put paracetamol tablets in a chunk of bread it will make them blow up

I never found out the truth of that

They eat the alka and pop goes their belly. Used to make them fall dead out of the sky when at beach in Florida.

If your neighbors cats come and shit in your flowerbeds soak some hamburger met overnight in antifreeze. Leave the meat in the flower beds. Takes care of that problem real fast. Also if you have stupid lib women that post on fb about feeding the feral cat colonies just ask them the location of the cat colonies and tell them you love cats, and want to help feed them. Feed them the antifreeze meat. They all die. Then go to their post about all the dead cats and leave a sad face emoji.

Tried soldering the lead, ended up melting holes in it. Fuck it, roofing tar!

A B-vent hat fits the lead pipe cover perfectly. Filled it with tar before cramming it on. Tight fit!
Ridge vents aren't supposed to be near stacks or vents, so did up some ridge above it.

Started the ridge on the leeward side, windowed in the ridge vent and started nailing in ridge.

Hard to work one handed, but at least I can get up a ladder now. Seems like I do my best work one handed in the dark. :hurry:

How the fuck did that vent stack pass inspection in the first place?

Should have come up at the X.

Could have just pro-vented that fucker that way it did not come thru the roof street facing side.

25 square and I'm just one guy that didn't know wtf he's doing.

Same way 3/8 roof deck did. House is 50 years old,

Yeah, but that's more work, and it's been there 50 years no problem so far. I'll put a cap on it and paint it when I get a chance. If I would have changed anything, it should have been the stack size for the water heater. I could have gone down to 3 inch as there's no furnace exhausting through it now.

Sidewall vents, near the peak of the wall are designed to act as both an intake and exhaust, depending on the headwind and pressure.

Should I close off the sidewall vents so everything flows from the soffits to the peak, or is more better?

Not much progress today. Ran out of long nails for the ridge vent.

This wall vent concerns me. It's on the windward side.
