Poker is a stupid game.

and its not even much of a game to begin with, otherwise you'd still play it without stakes

This.

I'm a pool player. And a very good one. I gamble other really good pool players.

But I still play the game when I don't gamble.

But in pool if say maybe you and the other player know you're not equally good there are ways of compensating. Depending on what game you're playing you give the lesser pool player what is called "weight" and what that "weight" is depends on the game you're playing to give them a somewhat better edge.

You just lost playing shitty.

Maybe they should figure out a way in poker to give you a "weight" system so you don't dog such shitty hands without thinking about the possibilities of other's cards.

maybe, wouldnt make it a fun game though.

problem with poker is theres only 2 elements to it to the "game" part.
1. the long solved math side of it. this part is irrelevant because its always equal among any above avg players who play it always the same.
2. the "people" element which as said earlier isnt about poker at all, but purely about psychology.
so you can swap the poker part with just about any similar mechanic like every1 dropping their pants instead of showing their hands and you'd get a similar experience.

idk about weighting tho, unless the better player offers a higher reward if they lose.

its the only game in the casino where youre not playing against the house

you can easily put yourself in situations, or better yet not put yourself into situations where you have a high probability to lose. Poker pros have played so much poker they know the probability of winning or losing a hand based on what they get delt, how many players are at the table, when they see a flop %s turn%s river%s. THEN the real gambling takes place. Betting strategy is like 90% of the game based on all those things i said.

so no, its not like pool, at all

You know nothing about poker you stupid ass. There's not a player in the world who doesn't get it all in there. Or any other preflop spot when you're holding AA.

Why am I even trying to explain this to you. Hold on I'll be back, I've got some wet rope that needs pushing up a hill.

It doesn't happen every time. Most of the time my hand holds up there. The idiot that called off half his stack there with 88 after an UTG raise and a shove just shouldn't even be in the pot. That's an instafold.

But then I forgot you're a poker pro

trash take. Its gambling, stakes is the whole point

Would you play any sport/game without taking score or having a loser/winner?

there's a purpose to anything that matters

score is not stake

This game rewards stupidity more than any other game I know of

But you still took a risk, and lost. You knew it could happen, and you probably knew the odds. Why are you complaining about the risk YOU took?

i agree but thats not really saying anything, the game revolves around the chips meaning something

yup, its all about reading opponents (psychology) and $. you can swap poker for anything else that can be compared like everyone wippin their cocks out and youd get the same "experience"

It's a good saying, and widely attributed to Einstein, but he never said it.

Does that mean you've given up being a poker pro? If so biggest +ev decision you've ever made because you clearly have not the slightest idea how the game works.

The math being figured out about poker makes no limit more interesting, not less, at least in my opinion

For as random as it is it's rather miraculous that anyone is so good at getting a "read" on such limited information problems with any level of reliability

I'm not a great believer in physical tells. You get the occasional player that if he looks down at KK or AA he starts shaking like a shitting dog.

It's more about betting patterns/ tendencies

have the solution to your dilemma. You aren't playing poker when you go all-in pre-flop. You are playing Bingo! I've (almost) always avoided those, and, as you can imagine, lost my stack many, many times.

In my "free" poker app, that I spend $25 or so a month, I've played 567,000 hands over 15 years. I figure that has to be at least 10,000 hours, or a full year and a few months, non-stop. I have a couple hundred thousand hands on maybe 60 other apps that I no longer use. In live games I probably have played 150,000 hands, let's say 6 moths non-stop.

So, please, fuck off with your telling me I don't know this game. As much as I pretend to hate you, you actually gave me great advice that made last year's winnings make up for 5 or 6 years worth of losses.
