Sen. Landrieu said:
But perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment. The good and decent people of southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast -- black and white, rich and poor, young and old -- deserve far better from their national government.

Way to take the bull by the horns George

Gay porn aside, I think that the senator made a valid point. When did disasters become publicity stunts for everyone?

George Bush doesn't care about black people!

I doubt that. I'm sure he cares about all of the people of this country in his own way. But he obviously places his approval rating and his image above their lives, which is pretty fucked.

The Breach was repaired...... The Senator needs to shut the fuck up.........

The breach in the 17th Street Canal levee that had put the city of New Orleans underwater was essentially closed early Sunday evening after days of work and the use of "ingenuity to the max," a top U.S. Corps of Engineers general said.

George is more cocerned about easing the political damage (with photo ops, etc..) than the lives of individual people. I don't know what the deal is with the levee break is though, seems to be nearly fixed and that isn't an urgent issue right now anyway.

Maybe they were on a break. Her press release was dated 9/03, and she makes reference to "Flying over this critical spot again this morning." Who knows.
