It's pretty funny, and it's got a decent RPG element behind it. I just started so I can't give anyone the sweet hookup, but I can give some basic pointers.
Visit your inventory screen a lot. There's items like barbels and magic pills that are meant to be used asap. Plus you'll get equipment but you won't really know it's meant to be equipped due to it's vague name or description.
Buy a tent early on from the market, it gives you more HP and MP when you rest at your campsite
