I just heard about this band today. I really like their folk sound. Their most recent album, Caledonia, focuses around the Roman presence on the island of Britain, around Hadrian's Wall.

Suidakra is the shit

but their best album is by far "Emprise to Avalon" followed by Lays from Afar. This is back when they were a bit folk/black metal.

Command to Charge and Signs of the Fallen were "meh" melo death releases but yeah, the new cd isnt bad
 
not a big fan of folk myself, but "Melodic Black / Death Metal with folk/medieval influences" sounds good

i love finntroll, been listening to them for a while.
They make folk metal bad ass. plus they're very tongue in cheek about it, which i always respect in a metal band

I love a lot of viking metal too, but once they start getting overly folky it just gets way too :gayfight: for me

but i mostly listen to grind/thrash/death

I have A Burnt Offering to the Bone Idol by Skyclad. Its alright, i never really throw it on that often. The violin gets on my nerves after a while.

and i have Dreamweavers by Sabbat which is waaaay better than Skyclad but i'd much rather listen to the japanese Sabbat :)

never listened to Equilibrium or Desaster but i really like Einherjer. Especially Dragons in the North.

oh and Cryptopsy's None So Vile is probably in the top ten of best death metal albums ever
 
i like History of a Time to Come by Sabbat more than Dreamweaver

Equilibrium is viking metal. Turis Fratyr is the only cd and its ballin. Desaster is blackened thrash. Hellfire's Dominion and Divine Blasphemies are my favs

the new abbath project, "I" is fucking amazing
