Looking into good Commodities Fund

I want to be involved with oil, precious metals for long term investing. I have been watching VGPMX Vanguard Precious Metals and Mining (VGPMX) - Google Finance (since I have a Vanguard account) as I think platinum will be turning around once the car market picks up again. Any other suggestions? I am looking to invest about 10k, and want something that is pretty solid.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think battery tech is going to explode, particularly Li+ technology. If you consider lithium a commodity you might want to do some research on that. (handheld devices, hybrid/electric cars, w/e)
