Ipod gift question

My sister got an Ipod for Christmas. Does anyone know if you can install the software from the Ipod(one serial key) on multiple computers? Any help would be great as she'd need to know before she installs it on a computer here.

what serial? i never needed a serial

the serial allows you to register the product to your name.

it would come in handy in a court case.
