IGN vs Gamespot

Gamespot lost points in my books for giving Zelda a low rating.

Both companies seem bias and really contribute to the hype of games. But I think IGN does a better job in terms of it's coverage so it's easier to draw your own conclusions on games.

I think IGN gets paid for good MS reviews.

In fact I know thats true, since one of the marketers that works there was on my Tribe.

I still like both sites.

IGN has some really shitty writing. I prefer GameSpot.

What I really hate is how both sites make some games sound awesome in the preview, then totally trash them in the review (I'm looking at you, "The Outfit").

Gamefaqs ftw

edit: for ratings, go there and take all the user reviews and take the average value...it's usually right on.

no high profile gaming site (or magazine for that matter) will give an unbiased opinion on any games from large companies. otherwise, bye-bye exclusive sneak previews, pre-release review copies, interviews, etc

the only real way to get a good opinion on games is first-hand experience or word-of-mouth

ign started annoying the shit out of me when they started doing anime/tv/film

plus they were the only site to rate one of our games below an 8 so....
