I need a new Video Card!

I currently have a GF4 Ti4200 128mb card and i must say it is performing rather shazbotty. I want to get a new video card but i dont want to spend more that $250 What do you guys suggest?

My specs:

MS1 MS-6743G MB 800 fsb
P4 2.8mhz 800 fsb HT
1.5 gig of pc2700 RAM
 
At newegg.com, there's 9800 Pros for less than that, and a GF6800 for $254 (OEM).

I'd personally look at: Radeon 9600 Pro < Radeon 9800 Pro < Geforce 6800. Anything higher is more pricy than $250. I'm also not positive of how well the 6800 performs with T:V. I know that the x800, unless you have the weird problems with it, tends to perform extremely well. However, that's over the price limit you gave there.

My 9800 Pro handles the game quite nicely, on ultra-high for most everything (not textures, bumpmaps, since it's a 128mb card) and 1280x1024, I think I keep 40fps +, even when there's a fair amount of action.

Edit: other than the possible problems that the below mentioned, the 6600GT sounds nice, though it's probably PCI express only and so not useful.

Right, I'm sticking by saying that I like my 9800 Pro and can recommend it. It's topped, AGP-wise, only by the 6800's and X800's. ATI is a good, solid company. And I'm Canadian so :shrug:

Ohhh man, bad press strikes again for nVidia. That's a damn shame.

On a side note, I've got a 9800pro 128MB and I run around 60fps 1280x1024 high detail (just reinstalled windows, my frames are tight!). I'm really happy with the performance considering I bought this card over a year ago.

My advice: stay far far away from the FX line. Grab a Sapphire 9800pro 128MB for <$200 off newegg. The performance is much better for both PS2.0 and non-PS2.0 games.
 
I had to get a new vid card, went for the Radeon 9250 256mg which can be found for 100 bucks. Runs smooth on high settings havent tried ultrahigh yet dunno y.
 
I'm getting very good performance in T:V out of my Sapphire 9600XT running at 1024x768 on High settings. Was happy to be able to keep the same card for this years games... it runs Doom 3 and T:V, next is HL2. :eek:
 
Suddenly_Dead says: perhaps. I think there may be Geforce 6800's on that site for the same price as the 256mb version of Radeon 9800 Pro. 6800s perform a fair deal better.
