National Weather Service radar data and surface observations
indicate that Hurricane Nate has made landfall near Biloxi,
Mississippi, around 1230 AM CDT with maximum winds of 85 mph (140
km/h).

indicate that Hurricane Nate has made landfall near Biloxi,
Mississippi, around 1230 AM CDT with maximum winds of 85 mph (140
km/h).
85mph winds are not to be underestimated. If Nate had come ashore in say NYC, it would have caused plenty of problems. It's fortunate that instead it came into the Gulf, where the structures are hardened against basic hurricanes, and furthermore that the wind field was so small.
