Got sworn in to the united states army yesterday. Shipping out to basic training april 21st. I got a 20 thousand dolla bonus for chosing Explosives Ordinance Division. I spent an hour and a half in a security briefing to get some kinda "clearance" to mess with nuclear weapons. neat eh?

Hoo-ah.

EOD? You're going to be blowing shit up for the next 4 years.

good to know they're training people for a whole hour and a half to be able to "mess with nuclear weapons"

They say that in the Army, the chicken's mighty fine
One jumped off the table and started marking time

They say that in the Army, the coffee's mighty fine
It looks like muddy water, and tastes like turpentine

They say that in the Army, the biscuits are mighty fine
One rolled off the table and killed a friend of mine

They say that in the Army, the meat is mighty fine
Last night we had ten puppies, this morning only nine

They say that in the Army, the shoes are mighty fine
You ask for size eleven, they give you size nine

They say that in the Army, the pancakes are mighty fine
You can try to chew them, but you're only wasting time

They say that in the Army, the bed's are mighty fine
But how the hell would I know, I've never slept in mine

They say the in the Army, the mail is so great
Today I got a letter dates 1948

They say that in the Army, the hours are just right
Start early in the morning and work on through the night

They say that in the Army, the buses are mighty fine
One went round the corner, and left three wheels behind

They say that in the Army, the coffee's mighty fine
It's good for cuts and bruises and tastes like iodine

They say that in the Army, the toilets are mighty fine
You flush them up at seven, they come back up at nine

They say that in the army, the tents are waterproof
You wake up in the morning and you're floating on the roof

i ship out for more AIT on may 29th.. unless ROTC somehow convinces them otherwise

you on scholarship for rotc? cuz if you are I'm pretty sure you don't have to go to ait, even if you've already gone through basic, I know a couple of people who did that. If you're just contracted and not scholarship, it may be another story. btw, just took my pt test and I'm contracting w/ rotc next week. :)

smokey, gl bro, it ain't that bad. I had the time of my life in basic and ait. not that there weren't some bad times, but what you take out of it makes it all worth it.

have fun... hope you're not going to fort jackson. It sucks there because it is entirely too easy.

Also, don't get a big head because you are EOD. A friend of mine thinks he > airborne rangers because he can tinker with explosives. Unfortunately for him and his unit, he is an absolute idiot. I hope they don't get deployed somewhere.

Make sure to sound off at boot.
I did a lot of EOD stuff in Iraq... Ive got some pics at home. I will post them when I get a chance.

GL!
