Last night I started getting visual artifacts appearing in games, followed immediately by a driver crash. nTune caused a BSOD on startup (0x0000003b SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION in nvoclk64.dll), uninstalling it didn't help.

Exact same phenomenon in 2 completely different games: visual artifacts, game hangs for a couple seconds, then crashes.

My weekend is ruined!

Anyhow, are AMD cards any good nowadays, or should I just stick to nVidia?

2 seconds googling "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION in nvoclk64.dll". Uninstall ntune, and reinstall nvidia drivers.

My RX580 8GB is coming up a little bit short in Apex Legends!

I get about 80-140FPS on a mix of high and low settings depending on how much shit is going on.

It can do it in Titanfall 2 (or at least remain above 120FPS) maxed out... which looks way better and has way more action!

RE2 runs at about 100FPS on high settings as an example of a modern title.

I do have a 2500k @ 4.5ghz though. But everything I have read and watched says it’s still not a bottleneck when paired with 2133mhz RAM!

I’m playing Tribes Ascend and T2 on my 2080. I ended grabbing that HP Omen for $1700, it’s doing everything I need it too. I tried playing battlefield v on it but that game is boring. Gotta disk jet and ski you know. Sometimes I jump on T1, but rarely find anyone on and it’s all LT maps when people are on. Besides, I can hold my own with TA and T2 pubbers, T1 I get killed so fast it’s not really much fun.
