At just after 9.00 a.m. London time the site forwarded to an error message telling users that it was working on the problem and that it would be fixed as soon as possible. After 15 minutes, normal service had been resumed with the website once again allowing users to log in.
A spokesperson for the company told CNBC that it is currently preparing a statement regarding the issue.
