Yeah, the eve-o website is on the same server as the game, so when the game server is down so are the forums. SMART HUH?!??@?@?
 
Haven't they had load issues with that server since launch?

Can't they just get a (comparatively) cheap forum server and have their servers be separate?

Depends on how their code is written.

I used to write distributed system software. If you don't design from the beginning with distribution in mind, it can be difficult, especially with time as you have more and more code.

One server has a lot less issues to deal with than multiple servers.
 
Eve Files has a very nifty server monitor that's better than the one on EVENews. Can be handy in seeing if there are server problems (ie, massive spikes on the chart), or if the issues are on your end.
