I know it's really early, but I hope they keep the gritty and dirty feel from the original. It's on the verge of Starcraft 2 brightness and cartooniness.

Except thats how space marine armor is, thats an older suit style though (MK6), thus why it is more rounded and has a different helmet. I think every unit in the original DoW used MK7. Equipment of the Imperium (Warhammer 40,000) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not all have the knobbly shoulder pad. I didn't look at the models close enough, they don't have the right style knees either. So really its a MK6 head on a MK7 body.

VIII is basically VII with a raised collar. I always was partial to VI as well, just looks better.

the plastic look is something that could be fixed with a simple light filter. I wouldn't worry about it.
